The Hottest Place to Move in 2021!

Why not live where others vacation? The sunshine state seems to be turning vacations into reality for new and prospective residents. If you’re considering moving to Florida, there is no better time than now!

Moving to Florida is a trend that isn’t slowing down. According to Florida’s Office of Economic and Demographic Research, an estimated 329,717 new residents and counting had relocated to Florida between April 2020 and April 2021.

Move.org reported that Florida was the No. 1 destination for relocating Americans in 2020. The website used various data metrics, including a survey of 700 U.S. adults to determine each state’s popularity. According to U-Haul, which barely meets the demand for self-moving, Florida was the third most popular place to move during the pandemic. Data was compiled from more than two million customer transactions.

The primary attraction to Florida is due to the lower housing costs than many other states. There is a significant discount on homeownership. Residents pay less than 1% for property taxes while other popular states pay more than 2%. By comparison, New Jersey has the highest rate at 2.47%.

According to the National Association of Realtors, a total of 8.9 million people changed addresses since the start of the pandemic. It has been reported that approximately 28% of the people relocating to Florida came from Texas and another 15% relocated from New York, with over 6% coming from California.

Florida does not have any income tax, attracting many of those moving out of states that tax individuals on income. Florida is one of only nine states in the U.S. with no income tax.

Mass migration toward Florida’s shores isn’t slowing down any time soon. In fact, the state is projected to gain an average 845 new residents daily until 2025. Will you be 1 of 845?
